1. Cayton Bay
Just south of Scarborough, Cayton Bay is a quiet, sheltered cove that’s popular with surfers and dog walkers alike. It’s dog-friendly all year round and has a wild, unspoilt feel. Be prepared for a steep walk down, but the reward is total peace and space to roam.
2. Cornelian Bay
Tucked between Cayton Bay and South Bay, Cornelian Bay is a hidden gem. It’s accessible via woodland and coastal paths, and rarely busy. Dogs can roam freely, and fossil hunters will enjoy the rockier areas.
3. North Bay, Scarborough
North Bay is a fantastic stretch of beach that allows dogs at certain times of year. From 1st October to 30th April, the whole beach is dog-friendly. During summer, dogs are restricted to specific zones, so keep an eye out for signage.

4. South Bay, Scarborough (seasonal)

Scarborough’s South Bay is the more traditional, bustling beach. Dogs are welcome in certain sections outside the main summer season (1st October to 30th April). A good choice for off-season walks with sea views, snacks, and arcades nearby.
5. Sandsend
A short drive north towards Whitby, Sandsend is a dog-walking favourite. There are some restrictions in the summer (May to September), but much of the beach remains accessible. It’s a beautiful spot with views of Whitby Abbey and a great café near the slipway.
6. Robin Hood’s Bay

Steeped in history and charm, this quaint coastal village welcomes dogs year-round. The beach at low tide reveals rock pools and plenty of space to explore. Dogs are also welcome in many of the local pubs and shops.
